NJ man dies after being hit by vehicle on 22 ramp

State police at the Bethlehem barracks are investigating the death of a 65-year-old man from South Amboy, New Jersey, whose body was found Wednesday morning on the Route 22 eastbound ramp to Route 512 in Hanover Township, after he was apparently struck by a vehicle.

Police said the man was pronounced dead at the scene by a representative of the Northampton County Coroner’s Office. They said an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause and manner of death.

Police said they were dispatched to the scene at 6:16 a.m. and determined the victim was struck by a vehicle. The ramp was closed to traffic until about 9:15.

In addition to officers from the Troop M patrol unit, the incident is being investigated by the coroner’s office, a state police Analysist Reconstruction Specialist Unit and a Troop M Forensic Services Unit. PennDOT and Colonial Regional Police Department assisted at the scene.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding this incident or anyone who may have witnessed a vehicle strike the male to contact them at 610-861-2026 and reference Incident Number PA25-964881.
