CCTI administrator updates committee on programs, grants

Carbon Career & Technical Institute Administrative Director David Reinbold addressed the school’s joint operating committee during its July meeting on several matters.

Reinbold said the school will continue to make fifth grade presentations at the schools that send students to CCTI. He said the technical staff and students will make presentations at each of the five area school district schools, offering rotating stations for the students.

He reported the school has received approval of the Perkins Grant for $174,000 and said the majority of the funding will be utilized for salaries.

Reinbold thanked the Carbon County Community Foundation for its donation of $2,190 that will be utilized to offset costs of the summer camp next year.

In business matters, the board voted to allow Auto Collision Repair students and Precision Machine Technology students to attend an educational trip to Maple Grove Raceway Park, Mohnton, on Sept. 12 to participate in the NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) YES (Youth and Education Services) Program. Stephen Nesler, Auto Collision Repair instructor, Kevin Wagner, Auto Collision Repair instructional aide, and Kevin Kuehner, Precision Machine Technology instructor, will chaperone the event. This will be the fifth year attending this educational event. There is no charge to CCTI for students to attend.

The board also approved the purchase of two Promethean Boards at a total cost of $6,490.60. These items are included in the Capital Plan.

It also approved the hourly rate for substitute custodian/maintenance/groundskeeper/cleaner at $16, effective July 1, 2025 through June, 2026.

The JOC acknowledged receipt of a letter appointing Erin Snyder as an alternate representative to the committee from December 2024, through December 2025. She will be filling the unexpired term of Kris Schaible.
