PSP Fern Ridge - crashes
State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following crashes:
• Lusisa O. Baldera Garcia, 39, of Hazleton, and Bekys D. Rosario Duran, 46, of the Bronx, New York, were injured in a one-vehicle crash at 7:17 p.m. Aug. 1 on Interstate 80 in Tunkhannock Township.
Police said they were transported by personnel from the Pocono Mountain Regional Emergency Medical Services to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Monroe Campus, Stroudsburg.
They Baldera Garcia was driving a 2009 Honda Pilot westbound when its driver’s side front tire blew out. She lost control of the vehicle, which traveled down an embankment on the right side of the road before coming to rest facing southwest. Rosario Duran was a passenger in the vehicle.
Police said the Pilot was towed from the scene.
Baldera Garcia was cited for driving with an expired registration.
• Jonathan B. Baffi, 33, of Saylorsburg, was involved in a two-vehicle crash at 7:11 p.m. July 23 on Frantz Road in Chestnuthill Township. Police said he did not require a medical transport from the scene.
They said Richard P. Mills, 33, of Brodheadsville, was driving a 2005 Buick Lacrosse north on Weir Lake Road and a 2003 Toyota 4Runner drive by Baffi was traveling west on Frantz Road. They said Mills made a left turn onto Frantz Road, after which time the Lacrosse struck the 4Runner.
Police said Mills fled the scene and was later cited for accidents involving damage to an attended vehicle or property.
The 4Runner had to be towed from the scene, police said.
• John E. Palmavichique, 20, of Brooklyn, New York, was hurt in a one-vehicle crash at 3:22 a.m. July 19 on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township.
Police said he was driving a 2010 GMC Acadia west when it confronted a tree down in the left lane. They said he served to avoid striking the tree and lost control of the Acadia, which traveled off the road and struck a guard rail. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
• Joel A. Cota, 28, of Arizona City, Arizona, was cited after a one-vehicle crash at 2:49 a.m. July 19 on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township. He was not injured.
Police said he was driving a 2023 Kenworth westbound when it left the roadway and struck a guide rail. It continued west into a ditch, striking a tree, and was towed from the scene.
