It’s a collaborative event that aims to promote police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.
Numerous police departments throughout the region plan to host National Night Out events on Tuesday.

• Lehighton Borough Police Department, 5 to 7 p.m. The Lehighton Borough Police Department, along with the Carbon County Sherriff’s Office will be patrolling the streets of Lehighton to connect with the community in what the department is calling “Lights on Lehighton.” Families are encouraged to turn their outdoor house lights on and/or decorate to show their support for the police department. Lehighton Borough Police Chief Troy Abelovsky stated, “When you hear the sirens, come outside and wave to those who protect and serve. Officers will be looking for people to interact with and will have some police department swag and cold treats to share with the kids.” Then, from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, the officers of the Lehighton Borough Police Department will be at Corner Cone, located at Eighth and Mahoning streets.
