Turnpike Incidents

State police at the Pocono barracks reported the following crashes and incidents that occurred on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike:

• Jose Perez, 25, of West Hazleton, was charged with theft of services after police made a traffic stop for a registration violation at 8:50 a.m. July 18 at mile marker 66.4 in Washington Township.

Police said it was determined the license plate on the 2010 BMW was fraudulent.

• Richard N. Swartley II, 34, of Lehighton, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed after a crash at 12:25.m. July 16 at mile marker 56.5 in Upper Macungie Township.

Police said he was driving a 2012 Freightliner northbound when he failed to observe traffic stopping ahead of him. He lost control of the rig, which went onto the east berm and struck an electronic work signboard before reentering the right lane and hitting the rear of a tractor-trailer driven by Eric C. DeShield, 55, of Lumberton, New Jersey.

Police said the Freightliner was towed from the scene, while the other rig had rear-end damage but was able to be driven from the scene.

• Michelle N. Ault, 46, of Danielsville, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 6:30 p.m. July 16 at mile marker 109.5 in Bear Creek Township.

Police said she was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Impala northbound when she lost control of the car on the wet roadway and it hit a guide rail.

• The operator of a vehicle police stopped at 11:27 a.m. July 16 at mile marker 74.8 in Parryville for a registration violation was cited for theft of services.

Police said Starlin Marte, 32, of Pennsauken, New Jersey, was driving the 2018 International Harvester that had a plate that belonged on a Honda Accord.

The victim of the incident is Nelson Tibanlaghua, 41, of Centereach, New York, police said.

• Police stopped at 2022 Freightliner for a registration violation at 8:12 a.m. July 15 at mile marker 94.6 in Kidder Township, resulting in Ravinder Singh, 37, of Levittown, New York, being charged with theft of services.

Police said he was operating a 2022 Freightliner that displayed a fraudulent registration plate.

The victim of the incident is Grand Largo Services, Midland, Texas.

• Kathryn B. Kennington, 41, of Bear Creek Township, was involved in a one-vehicle crash at 9:14 a.m. July 14 at mile marker 78.7 in Franklin Township.

Police said she was driving a 2019 Toyota RAV4 southbound when it struck the concrete barrier and a metal guide rail.

She did not require a medical services transport from the scene, police said.
