West Penn artists to showcase their artwork
Two West Penn Township artists — and friends — will share the spotlight for their upcoming exhibit at a Schuylkill County Council of the Arts venue.
Terree O’Neill and Amanda Agostino have titled the exhibit “Feels Like Home.” It will open with a meet-and-greet reception from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 16 at the carriage house of the Historic Yuengling Mansion, 1440 Mahantango St., Pottsville.
“In essence, ‘Feels Like Home’ and the images we will have on display will be an opening of our hearts to the natural world that gives us so much joy,” O’Neill said of the exhibit, which will run for two weeks.
O’Neill will showcase her photography, while D’Agostino will display her paintings — similar to when the two shared billing at their “She’ll Be Comin’ Round the Mountain” exhibit last August at the Tamaqua Arts Center.
That exhibit, too, featured works that gave the two feelings associated with home.
“This second exhibit of mine and Amanda’s work together came about by a desire to continue showing our love of the area in which we both live, coupled with the idea to expand on it and encompass imagery that gives us that warmhearted feeling of comfort and peace,” O’Neill said.
O’Neill will exhibit about 20 of her photographs of places like the Blue Mountain area, the Jersey Shore and Ocean City, Maryland.
“And some from as far away as Patagonia,” O’Neill noted. “All of the places that captured my heart and soul, and feel like home.”
D’Agostino will feature around two dozen of her original and colorful oil paintings that will fit perfectly with O’Neill’s photographs.
“We knew we wanted to do another show together, so we decided to shift our show theme from last year to a broader idea of places, people, things and experiences that make us feel like home,” D’Agostino said.
She said that her paintings represent life and scenes around the Blue Mountain area that make her ”feel like home.” That includes her garden, rural life scenes and the “everyday magic” of local sunsets and misty mornings, she said.
“I feel fortunate to have this opportunity to display my works alongside my good friend’s photography for a second year. Our artworks complement each other, and provide a thoughtful exploration into the idea of what home means,” D’Agostino said.
The reception will feature light refreshments.
