Carbon County’s Domestic Relations office invites children to swim for free on Friday at Mauch Chunk Lake.
Carla Ferguson, the domestic relations director, announced that the event kicks off Child Support Awareness Month, as well as a statewide celebration on the 50th anniversary of the Pennsylvania Child Support Program.
The domestic relations office is sponsoring an all-day free swim for any Carbon County child under the age of 18. Proof of residence must be provided, and children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Commissioners’ Chairman Mike Sofranko, last week, commended Ferguson and her office for all they have done.
“It’s great to see that we’re all trying to think outside the box here,” he said, noting that he believes this is the first time the domestic relations office is holding this kind of event. “I know they have a very enjoyable day planned for Aug. 1.
“To Carla and her staff, thank you for coming up with such a great idea.”
