The driver of a car escaped serious injury Friday afternoon in a crash in West Penn Township. The crash, which occurred around 2 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Route 309 just south of the intersection with Blue Mountain Drive, involved a car and a box truck. The car apparently struck the back of the truck, resulting in major damage to the car. The driver of the box truck was not injured. Members of the West Penn Fire Company responded, helping to clean up the scene and maintain traffic control by shutting down the southbound passing lane. West Penn police are investigating the crash.
