Lehighton Downtown Initiative to host Christmas in July

Those who wish to experience Christmas festivities in the warm weather are in luck.

The Lehighton Downtown Initiative will host its eighth annual Christmas in July event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the Lehighton downtown borough park.

Guests can take a stroll through the park to admire the Christmas decorations as they listen to live Christmas music performed by Autumn Falls Entertainment and Dave Matsinko.

In addition, there will be over 30 vendors with a variety of goods to please everyone’s needs, as there will be food, snacks and drink to pleasure everyone’s palate.

Once again, the Lehighton Library will join the festivities with its Annual Basket Raffle Fundraiser under the big tent.

Christmas in July is a family-friendly event with plenty of crafts, games and activities for all, said Bambi Elsasser, community operations manager, Lehighton Downtown Initiative.

“Rumor has it we might get a visit from Mrs. Claus, who will have special treats direct from the North Pole,” Elsasser said. “Mrs. Claus is making a special stop in Lehighton, but needs to get back to Santa to help him make toys for all the children this year.”

Elsasser reminded guests to visit the Lehighton Downtown Farmers Market located on Constitution Avenue.

She said farmers and vendors will be there until at least noon, with most staying until 2 p.m.

Elsasser noted that the Lehighton Downtown Farmers Market runs from 9 a.m. to noon every Saturday through Sept. 27.
