Strohl wins Modified Doug Hoffman Poker race
Kyle Strohl powered from the back of the field to claim an impressive victory in the Modified Doug Hoffman Poker Series No. 2 race at Mahoning Valley Speedway Saturday.
Rod Snyder was scheduled to start on the pole but was unable to compete due to mechanical issues, bumping everyone up one position. Lou Strohl took the early lead with Jacob Kerstetter alongside. Kerstetter surged ahead, with Austin Kochenash closely following. Kochenash grabbed the lead on Lap 30 with a clean inside pass, but Strohl — starting 10th — made a bold move to the outside on Lap 43 to take control and secure the win.
Kerstetter finished third, Lou Strohl was fourth, and Brian DeFebo rounded out the top five.
Street Stocks
Randy Ahner earned a hard-fought win in the Street Stock division. Starting from the fourth row, Ahner worked his way to the front, taking the lead on Lap 18 and holding it through the final circuits.
Frankie Althouse, who started on the front row, maintained a steady pace to place second, with Jon Moser finishing third. The race included several position changes and a dramatic caution involving Adam Steigerwalt, who lost his right-side door while avoiding a spin in Turn 2. Despite the chaos, Ahner remained poised to collect his third win of the season.
Hobby Stocks
Travis Solomon secured his first win of the season in the Hobby Stock division. Starting on the outside of Row 1, Solomon passed Sarabeth Mesko early and held the lead. Shayne Geist, who started fifth, quickly moved into second by Lap 3 but couldn’t get around Solomon.
With limited cautions and lap traffic in play, Solomon held off Geist to take the checkered flag. Dave Kerr finished third, Ryan Petro fourth, and James Tout fifth.
Pro 4s
The Pro 4 feature opened with drama as Jake and Bob Kibler, who were set to start on the front row, were involved in a first-lap wreck. Bob Kibler did not finish, while Jake Kibler was sent to the rear.
That handed the early lead to Bobby Kibler Jr., who led with Cody Kohler close behind. Kohler attempted an inside move on Lap 11, but lap traffic and a caution caused by Reese Tiemeyer kept Kibler Jr. in front. He maintained the lead through the final nine laps to earn his fourth win of the season. Kohler finished second, followed by Jeremy Guerra, Jake Kibler and Tyler Poole.
TQ Midgets
Josh Patterson earned his second TQ Midget win of the season after a close 20-lap battle. Tyler Wagner ran strong to finish second, with Jasper Ziegafuse taking third. Don Wagner and Lexi Przybylinski completed the top five.
Microstocks
Ian McGuire started on the outside of the front row and quickly took command of the Microstock race. He held off a late charge from Alex Greenzweig to claim the win. Eric Platt finished third.
Vintage TQ
Bill Fischer made a dash to the front on Lap 6, passing Brady Routzahn to win the Vintage TQ feature. Vinny Testanero finished second, followed by Bud Routzahn and Brady Routzahn.
