Jim Thorpe captured the Panther Valley 9-10 tournament championship on Monday by rallying past Tamaqua.

In another tourney game, Franklin Township downed Towamensing.

Jim Thorpe posted a 13-5 comeback victory over Tamaqua to clinch the Panther Valley 9-10 Little League tournament championship.

Thorpe trailed 5-1 after two innings before using a four-run third inning to tie the score. The winners then used a six-run sixth inning to seal the decision and the title.

In that sixth, Nick Dedinsky (triple), Liam Thompson (single), Julius Calcano (single) and Jacob McElmoyle (fielder’s choice) all collected RBIs.

Thompson led JT offensively, finishing 4-for-4 with a triple, two runs and three RBIs. Dedinsky added a single, double and triple while scoring twice and knocked in three runs. Calcano also ended with three hits and three runs as Thorpe moved its tourney record to 6-0.

For Tamaqua, Lucas Letkowski and Gavin Wagner both had two hits — one a double — and two RBIs.

Eleven different players scored runs for Franklin Township during a 20-5 Panther Valley 9-10 Little League tournament win over Towamensing.

Grayson Shupp led the way with three runs in three plate appearances, as the Franklin clean-up hitter singled once and walked twice.

Brantley Brungard added two singles, two runs and two RBIs for FT, which scored nine times in the first inning and ended the contest with a 10-run third. Ethan Eckhart chipped in with a pair of hits, two runs and an RBI, while both Elliot Mehmeti and Henry Eckman contributed a hit and two runs.

For Towamensing, Lucas Sutton had his team’s only hit. Javin Sesista walked twice and scored a run.
