July 19, 2007 — Jacen Nalesnik and Connor Hedash both hit home runs to help Franklin Township gain a 9-2 victory over Big Pocono in an opening round Section 4 11-12 Little League contest. Nalesnik connects for a three-run shot during a five-run third inning that gives FT, managed by Joe Hedash, an 8-0 lead. Hedash accounts for the final tally with a solo blast in the fifth. Nalesnik also tosses 2 1/3 innings of hitless ball, striking out five to earn the win. P.J. Salerno contributes a hit and a run. The win is bittersweet as Franklin’s A.J. Wienrich is hit in the face by a pitched ball, suffers a broken jaw, is taken to the hospital and then transported to St. Christopher’s Hospital for surgery.
