Bowmanstown Block Party proves popular
The third annual Bowmanstown Block Party was a success.
Held last weekend, the event at the Bowmanstown Volunteer Fire Company grounds was well attended.
Event cochair Rodney Reeser, a trustee with the fire company and vice president of Bowmanstown Area Residents Connected (B.A.R.C.), said that the event was sponsored by the Bowmanstown Volunteer Fire Company, Bowmanstown/Parryville Lions Club, and B.A.R.C. Proceeds from the event went to each of the three groups equally.
The Block Party had a bit of everything. There was a basket raffle, bingo, three live musical acts, a cornhole tournament, food, and craft vendors. There were also a lot of activities for the kids including getting to tour a fire truck with volunteers from the Fire Co. Kids, and they were offered free popcorn and hot dogs.
Reeser said he was very happy with the turnout at the event.
“I am glad everyone could come out today,” Reeser said. “Some people complain about nothing to do in town, so we wanted to change that. Two blocks in town are packed with cars, so I’d say the event was a success.”
Food vendors at the Block Party were selling all kinds of food and treats, including funnel cakes, ice cream, and BBQ from Grumpy’s BBQ in the Lehigh Valley.
Additionally, there were three live musical acts that performed at the event. These bands included Troubled Wine, Big Bone Daddy and Mixed Bagg.
