A 36-year-old Lansford woman died in a multi-vehicle crash just after midnight today at the intersection of Mountain Road and Route 309 in Lynn Township.
Details of the crash were not immediately available from state police at the Fogelsville barracks, however, Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio reported the woman has been identified and her family has been notified of the tragedy.
Buglio said he will not be releasing the name of the woman until after an autopsy is performed, in order to allow the victim’s family to grieve privately.
Buglio said the woman died just after 1 a.m. at the scene. She was one of the drivers of three vehicles that were involved in the crash, including two cars and a tractor-trailer.
In addition to state police, the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office responded to assist in the investigation.
The coroner said the autopsy will be conducted at the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office and Forensic Center to determine the cause of death.
The crash reportedly resulted in a traffic detour on routes 309 and 143 northbound and Route 895 southbound.
A state police accident reconstruction team responded to the scene.
