About 1,000 persons gathered at the Phifer Ice Dam Park in Franklin Township yesterday for the dedication of the Getz Family Bandshell.

The Getz family, descendants of Isaac and Loretta Getz, now numbers 104.

The bandshell was dedicated during the annual Franklin Lions’ Festival in memory of deceased members of the family.

Ricky Getz, who donated the bricks and masonry for the structure, represented the family and said his contributions were in memory of his two brothers, Neal and Donald.

Among those credited with helping to make the bandshell a reality were supervisor Ronald Solt, Robert Maholick and Bill McDonald.
