State police at Hazleton - crashes

State police at the Hazleton barracks reported the following crashes:

• Lisa J. DeHaven, 48, of Tamaqua, was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 11:55 a.m. June 27 on the off-ramp of Interstate 80 in Sugarloaf Township.

Police said she refused a medical transport from the scene.

They said she was driving a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox that was stopped at the intersection with Route 93 when it was struck from behind by a 2015 Freightliner Cascadia driven by Biniam Habtetsion Bahta, 37, of Charlotte, North Carolina. He was not injured and was cited for following too closely, police said.

The Equinox was towed from the scene.

• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 5:41 p.m. June 28 at the intersection of North Church Street and Hazle Township Boulevard in Hazle Township.

Police said the crash occurred as a 17-year-old boy from Hazleton was driving a 2015 Toyota Corolla westbound and attempted to turn left onto North Church Street when the car struck a 2017 Honda Civic operated by Richard J. Contrady Sr., 63, of Tresckow.

The teen was cited after the crash, police said.

The Corolla was towed from the scene.
