Carbon County Commissioners
The Carbon County commissioners acted on or discussed the following items during their meeting last week.
• Opened bids for two Community Development Block Grant projects in Palmerton. The first is for reconstruction a portion of Mauch Chunk Road, with the lowest bid coming in at $220,548.75 by Bracalente Construction; and the second for reconstructing a portion of Mary Ann Alley, with the lowest bid being $116,259.10 by Bruce George Paving.
• Approved an intergovernmental agreement with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania acting through the Commission on Crime and Delinquency to provide recidivism research, statistical data analysis and other services related to the county. There is no cost to the county.
• Posting a notice scheduling a public hearing for the commissioners to consider an application for the 2025 Emergency Solutions Grant program on behalf of Family Promise of Carbon County, which is requesting $80,000. The hearing will be held during the commissioners meeting at 10:30 a.m. on July 17. Comments from the public is being accepted electronically until 9 a.m. on July 17 at commissionersoffice@carboncounty.net.
• Approved a maintenance support renewal agreement with C-K Alarm Systems of Mountain Top for the 911 alarm monitoring system through May 31, 2026. The cost for the contract is $3,468.
• Approved a quote with Shawn Kresge Electrical of Jim Thorpe to add two electrical mounted receptacles at the Communications Center. The cost is $2,890.62.
• Approved a quote with A&W Plumbing and Heating of Nesquehoning to replace a rooftop water heater at the correctional facility. The cost is $16,500 and was the lowest of three quotes received.
• Approved a proposal from High Mountain Hardware Inc. of McAdoo to replace a door and all elements surrounding the door that leads from the courthouse to the sally port. The cost for the project is $2,910.43.
• Approved a GIS data sharing agreement with Luzerne County to facilitate a regional planning, emergency response, economic development and infrastructure management through the exchange of parcel data and assessment information. There is no cost to the county.
• Approved a cooperation agreement between the county, NEPA and Little Leaf PA LLC of McAdoo to administer the $2 million Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program funds for the expansion of Little Leaf Farms.
• Ratified a resolution honoring Myrtle S. Haydt of Palmerton on her 100th birthday.
