The Puffers to play at tabernacle

The Puffers will perform a concert at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle, 614 Valley Road, Tamaqua, at 6:30 p.m. July 17. The tabernacle is near Heisler’s Dairy.

The Puffers, comprised of Bob and Darlene Puffer, have traveled extensively throughout the country and Canada. Their songs have been played on numerous television and radio stations.

Bob Puffer spent 13 years in country music, beginning his music career in the nightclub business where he made significant progress toward a lucrative future as a performer and song writer. He passed an audition to appear on the national television show, “Hee-Haw” and later shared billing with the Oakridge Boys.

He was often interviewed as an up-and-coming country music personality. After trusting Christ as his Savior, he left the nightclub business in 1982 and sought God’s will for his life.

His income dropped dramatically as he took employment as a baker and trusted God to guide his future. With guidance from his pastor, he stepped into full-time gospel music in 1986. He met and married Darleen in 1989, who left her job at Carrier Corporation in Syracuse, New York, to step out in faith to join him in ministry.

Bob plays a multitude of instruments, including acoustic guitar, 5-string banjo, violin, mandolin, dobro and ukulele.

Darleen also came from a musical family, singing and performing with her sister when they were children and later in a trio, band, dance band and orchestra. Darleen adds keyboard and vocals to the program, and occasionally clarinet and saxophone.

Attendees will hear a diverse program, ranging from lively instrumentals to southern gospel, country, folk, traditional and comedy.
