Northern Valley posted a win over Whitehall Monday in the opening round of the Lehigh Valley Legion playoffs.

Winning pitcher Connor Simms knocked in four runs at the plate as Northern Valley opened the Lehigh Valley Legion playoffs with a 9-3 victory over Whitehall.

Simms delivered a two-run single during a five-run fourth inning that turned a tight 3-2 contest into a more comfortable 8-2 advantage.

Cole Dynda added an RBI double in the fourth, while Parker Schaffer also knocked in a run with a single.

Simms pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing three runs and no walks while striking out five.

Schaffer finished 3-for-3 and scored two runs. Dynda, who tossed 1 2/3 innings of hitless relief, added a pair of hits. Max George walked three times and scored a pair of runs, while Coy Daubert reached twice on free passes and scored two runs.

Northern Lehigh received a hit, run or RBI from 11 different players en route to a 14-0 victory over Wilson.

While the offense was clicking, five pitchers each threw an inning to combine on a three-hit shutout.

Colton Becker collected two hits, walked once, scored three runs and knocked in a pair for the winners, who broke the game open with a six-run third inning.

Garrett Kunkle added two hits and two RBIs, while Cole Mohrey had a hit and drove home three runs. Drew Mohrey also finished with a hit and two RBIs.

Beckett Fox, Paul Porobenski and Braedon Dougherty each contributed a hit and two runs.

Lower Macungie led from start to finish in earning a 12-5 victory over Franklin Township.

Ben Martin paced the winners with two hits, three runs and three RBIs.

FT, which fell behind 5-1 after two innings and saw the game slip away when Lower Mac plated five runs in the sixth, received three hits, a run and an RBI from Brock Atwood.

Owen Moyer finished with a hit, a run and two RBIs, while Jaxson Markell also ended with two RBIs. Korbin Ahner and Carter Spotts both chipped in with a hit and a run.

Bud Johnson struck out seven and didn’t allow an earned run in five innings of work to lead Southern Lehigh Blue to a 10-3 victory over Jim Thorpe.

Thomas Roth had a hit and two RBIs for the winners, who broke a 3-3 tie with a five-run third inning.

Thorpe received a hit, run and RBI from Dominic Calcano, while Bryce McElmoyle added a hit and knocked in a run.

Blue Mountain

Blue Mountain rolled to a 15-0 victory over LGH Tax & Acct.

Tyler Bensinger had the big bat for Blue Mountain, finishing with two singles, a double, a run scored and six RBIs.

Gabe Perilli and Cameron Cooper accounted for the two LGH Tax & Acct’s hits. With two outs in the fourth inning, Perilli and Cooper connected for back-to-back singles.
