Bill O’Gurek of Summit Hill, a 28-year-old reporter for the Times News, was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Mayor Kenneth Frassinelli last night by the Summit Hill Borough Council.
O’Gurek was the unanimous choice of the councilmen, receiving a 7-0 vote, and took over the reins of office immediately.
He will serve the 1-1/2 years remaining on Frassinelli’s term.
The latter resigned effective July 1, a move necessitated by his plans to move with his family to the Reading area, having been promoted by his employer, the Dana Corporation on that city.
The new mayor was administered the oath of office today by District Magistrate Joseph Sverchek of Lansford.
