State police at Fern Ridge

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following crashes:

• Police said a car crashed into a road closure sign at 10:04 a.m. June 5 on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township.

Police did not identify the driver of the 2004 Saturn Vue that was southbound. They said the driver failed to recognize the sign and drove directly into it. The vehicle had dents to its front bumper and hood and a cracked windshield.

Police said the sign was dislodged and was rendered inoperable.

The driver, who was uninjured, was issued traffic warnings, police said.

• Police said a 2014 GMC Terrain struck a deer at 8:56 a.m. June 25 on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township.

Police did identify the driver, who was uninjured.

They said the vehicle had moderate damage and was towed from the scene.

• Police said the driver of a vehicle that “rear-ended” another vehicle on Route 715 in Chestnuthill Township was cited for following too closely and for driving a vehicle that had an expired registration.

They did not identify the driver of the 2019 Dodge Durango that struck a 2020 Subaru Outback from behind as the driver of the latter vehicle, who was also not identified, abruptly braked to avoid a collision with a vehicle at the intersection with Evergreen Hollow Road.

Police said both vehicles had minor/moderate damage.

• No one was hurt in a two-vehicle crash at 9:29 p.m. June 22 at the intersection of Route 209 and State Road in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said the crash occurred when Mark J. Gutshall, 57, of Blakeslee, was driving a 2011 Nissan Rogue and was making a right turn at the intersection when the vehicle left its lane and hit a 2020 Ford Escape head-on. The Escape was driven by Ann P. Messina, 61, of Saylorsburg.

Police said both vehicles were towed from the scene.

• Cigdem Kurtul, 41, of Fort Lee, New Jersey, was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 3:36 p.m. June 21 on Jonas Road in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said she was a passenger in a car driven by Tolga Kurtul, 50, also of Fort Lee. Police said the severity of her injuries is unknown. She was transported by personnel from the West End Community Ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono, East Stroudsburg.

Police said the crash occurred when Elizabeth M. Raibeck, 63, of Albrightsville, driving a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox, attempted a left turn from Merwinsburg Road onto Jonas Road and failed to clear the intersection, with the front bumper and hood of the Equinox striking the rear passenger side of a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta driven by Tolga Kurtul.

Police said both vehicles had damage but were able to be driven from the scene.

• Noah T. Long, 21, of Easton, had suspected minor injuries after a one-vehicle crash at 7:35 p.m. June 8 on Interstate 80 in Tunkhannock Township.

Police said he did not require a medical services transport from the scene.

They said he was driving a 2021 Toyota Tacoma eastbound when it struck a deer that crossed in front of the Tacoma.

The pickup truck was towed from the scene, police said.

• Damage were minor in a two-vehicle crash at 6:33 a.m. May 29 on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township.

Police did not identify the drivers. They said a 2020 Freightliner veered into the left lane of travel and struck the passenger side of a 2011 Dodge Caravan.

Both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene, police said.
