Garden club prepares for plant sale, flower show
“Books and Blooms” will fill the room when the Pocono Garden Club holds its popular annual Flower Show and Plant Sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 12 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Tannersville.
Prize-winning floral arrangements and horticultural exhibits, an educational speaker, and the sale of hundreds of locally grown plants will be featured during the show, themed “Books and Blooms.”
See how garden club members create exquisite floral arrangements to artistically illustrate such books as “Alice in Wonderland,” “The Good Earth,” “Harry Potter and the Chamber of. Secrets,” “Little Women,” and more.
Local horticulture and houseplant examples, from hostas and herbs to Shasta daisies and succulents, will be on display. All will have been judged, and winners awarded ribbons.
“Ecological Edible Landscaping” will be presented in two parts by Richie Mitchell, owner of Bear Creek Organics. The introduction will be at 11 a.m., and the deep dive at 1 p.m.
The plant sale offers a vast array of plants locally grown by club members. You’ll find a range from coneflowers, day lily hybrids, black-eyed Susans and Rose of Sharon, to astilbe, herbs and houseplants. Perennials, annuals, bulbs, shrubs and small trees are offered.
An auction, Tricky Tray, Bake Sale, Garden Marketplace with new or gently used garden-related items, and a door prize round out the day’s offerings.
Proceeds benefit local charitable organizations.
A $4 donation is requested for adults. Cash or check only for all sales. Credit and debit cards are not accepted.
St. Paul’s Lutheran Church is located at 158 Fish Hill Road, off Route 611, in Tannersville.
