Tamaqua Seniors
The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on June 19 with 25 members present.
President Jean Machamer opened the meeting with the invocation “Belief Brings Peace” read by a member. There was no treasurer’s report due to the treasurer’s absence.
Two members were added to the sick list. Refreshments were served by two members.
Machamer brought a diagram from The Wheel showing how the third floor of the former Moose building in Tamaqua will be transformed into a community center.
Bingo and cards were played.
The group meets at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Coaldale Complex.
St. Peter’s West Penn
The Sunday worship service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn is at 9 a.m., followed by Adult Sunday school at 10:15 a.m., and a Church Board meeting at 10:30 a.m.
The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be at the July 6 service.
Calvary Lewistown
Guest speaker Erica Murphy from the New England Valley of Tamaqua will share a message of “To the Ends of The Earth” at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service at Calvary Evangelical Church in Lewistown. The passage is John 20:19-29. The theme is Day of the Christian Martyr. Sunday school is at 9:15 a.m. There will be sharing of faith, praises and prayer requests. All are invited. There will be no Sunday evening service so that people can attend the 6 p.m. Sunday service at the Auburn Holiness Camp, Third Street, Auburn.
Zion Lewistown
Zion Men will meet Saturday at 8 a.m. in Memorial Hall.
Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the sermon at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley. The adult Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.
Vacation Bible School
Lewistown Valley Vacation Bible School will be held from 6-8:15 p.m. on July 7-11 at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle. The theme is “Wonder Junction: Marvel at Jesus, Live for His Glory.” The school is for ages 2 and 3, and for prekindergarten to sixth grade (completed). Children under 4 need an accompanying adult.
