S. Hill Hootenanny on Sunday with food, crafts, local bands

On Sunday, the “Hill” comes alive with the sound of music.

The “Hill” is Summit Hill, and the event is the 12th annual Summit Hill Hootenanny Music Festival.

Terri Kane, festival chairperson, said the entertainment event will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. in Ludlow Park. Admission and parking are free.

Besides music, Kane said there will be food craft vendors, a kids area, a raffle table, a kids coloring contest, an expanded food court and carnival games.

She said the food court area “will have 14 unique vendors offering amazing menus.”

The raffle tables “will be filled with very generous donations.” The kids area will be at the west end of Ludlow Park.

Kane said this year’s “hootin’ and hollerin’ lineup” of bands includes The Pennsylvania Villagers, one of the areas premiere polka bands, which will play at 11 a.m., and Free Range Folk, a folk band. Both have appeared at every Hootenanny.

The complete lineup is as follows:

11 a.m. — The Pennsylvania Villagers.

12:15 p.m. — The Bee’s Knees.

1:30 p.m. — Jess Corbin Band.

2:45 p.m. — Wood Flower.

4 p.m. — Teacher and the Poet.

6 p.m. — Free Range Folk.

Live sound is proved by Sean Anderson Sound.

Kane said, “This festival is organized each year by a dedicated planning committee generously donating their time to help with the Hootenanny during the festival. Oh, yeah. If you haven’t been there yet, make it happen this year. It’s a guaranteed great time for all.

Free parking will be provided at the nearby Ginder Field, weather permitting.

Kane said anyone interested in volunteering or donating should message the Hootenanny Committee at summithillhoot@gmail.com.
