Local Roundup: Results from June 23

Franklin Township received wins from both its Senior and Junior Connie Mack teams on Monday.

The senior squad downed Coplay, while the juniors defeated Williams.

Franklin Township-Coplay

Logan Bellis knocked in five runs as Franklin Township rolled to a 17-0 victory over Coplay.

Three of his RBIs came during a 10-run fourth inning when he delivered a bases-loaded double.

Braylon Hunsicker also sparked the FT offense with two hits and four runs scored, while Brady Stubits added a pair of hits, two runs and an RBI.

Chase Llewellyn tossed three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and striking out six, to gain the win.

South Parkland used a five-run fifth inning to pull away from Northern Lehigh for an 11-1 victory.

Luke Habash finished 3-for-4 with three runs for the winners, who extended a 4-1 lead with their big fifth.

For Northern Lehigh, Paul Porobenski had two hits, Cole Mohrey added a hit and a run, and Jayden Christman accounted for the other NL safety.

Williams-Franklin Township

Franklin Township broke a tie in the fourth inning and went on to post an 8-3 victory over the Williams Black Sox.

Knotted at 3-3, the winners pushed across three runs in the fourth — which included a Brock Atwood RBI double — to take the lead.

Atwood finished with a pair of hits and two RBIs, while Carter Spotts ended 3-for-3. FT also received a pair of hits and an RBI from Korbin Ahner.

Jake Albert added a hit and three runs, and Aiden McCarroll chipped in with a hit and two runs.

Jake Albert used his arm and his bat to help Franklin Township roll to a 15-0 victory over Northampton on Saturday.

Albert earned the win, pitching four shutout innings. He allowed just two hits and no walks while striking out two. At the plate, he collected three hits, scored twice and knocked in a pair of runs.

Brock Atwood aided the FT offense with a 3-for-3 showing, two runs and two RBIs. Carter Spotts added a pair of hits and drove in two runs, while Brian Mriss finished with two hits and an RBI.

Aiden McCarroll scored four runs for the winners, while Owen Moyer and Roman White both chipped in with a hit and two runs.

Towamensing rallied late but couldn’t recover from a big deficit, falling 8-5 in a loser’s bracket contest to Hazle Township.

The winners raced to an 8-1 lead, which included a six-run first inning.

Dillon Welsh had a pair of hits and scored two runs for Towamensing, which posted two runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth but could never fully recover.

Johnny Bieling and Bentley Stevens both added a hit and run, while Bryce Baumgardt contributed a hit and an RBI.

Hazle Township, which received an 11-strikeout performance from pitcher Luca DeCosmo, returns to action against Jim Thorpe on Wednesday, while Towamensing was eliminated from the tourney.

Valley East-Anthracite

Valley East eliminated Anthracite with an 18-0, four-inning no-hitter.

The winners pounded out 19 hits, with Gabriel Tidwell and Delilah Boyle each collecting three. Tidwell also finished with four RBIs.

Jonathan Hartley also contributed two hits, two runs and two RBIs.

Anthracite’s Connor Jones and John Norwood both reached base via walks.

Hope’s-Hegins Black

Hegins Black grabbed an early lead and never let it slip away in dealing Hope’s Collision (Tamaqua) a 9-5 defeat in the league semifinals.

BK Kimmel had three hits and two RBIs for the winners, who scored three runs in the first. Riley Kaslavage added two hits and a pair of runs, while Lennon Kline had three RBIs.

Hope’s received a pair of homers, including a solo shot by Ryder Holmberg and a three-run blast by Paxton Carter. Wyatt Devlin finished with two hits for Tamaqua, while Gavin Edmonds delivered an RBI triple.

For Lansford, Carson Jones belted a triple, while Michael Mazzie had a single.
