Schuylkill County Court
The following sentences were handed down in Schuylkill County Court:
Hakeem T. Lee, 36, of Orwigsburg, was sentenced by Judge James Goodman to life in prison without parole on 12 sex counts leveled by state police at Frackville after his arrest on March 22, 2024.
He was sentenced to life on a charge of rape by forcible compulsion. The sentence on six other counts was made concurrent: Involuntary deviate sexual intercourse by forcible compulsion, aggravated indecent assault without consent, aggravated indecent assault by forcible compulsion, sexual assault, and indecent sexual assault without consent, indecent assault by forcible compulsion.
A charge of indecent assault by forcible compulsion drew a concurrent sentence of 8 to 24 months.
Additionally, the court declared Lee a Tier III sex offender due to his having committed sexually violent offenses and is a sexually violent predator as defined by the law, with his having a mental abnormality and personality disorder, including chronic antisocial personality disorder, which makes him likely to engage in predatory sexually violent offenses.
Joshua Warfel, 35, of Tamaqua, was sentenced by Judge William L. Burke to 16.5 to 33 years in jail on eight counts of child pornography leveled by the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office on Feb. 15, 2019.
Warfel was sentenced to 30 to 60 months on the first charge, and 2 to 4 years each on seven more charges.
He was also sentenced to 2 to 4 years on 29 charges of dissemination of photos of child sex acts to be served concurrently. He will also serve two years’ probation consecutive to all 38 counts against him.
He will have to pay the costs of prosecution, and another $400. He will have to undergo mental health and drug and alcohol evaluations.
