Pa. Freedom license plate now available

The new “Let Freedom Ring” license plate — commemorating Pennsylvania as the birthplace of American democracy — is now available for Pennsylvanians to order.

First unveiled by Gov. Josh Shapiro last July, the plate celebrates the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026. Nearly 11,700 Pennsylvanians who signed up for updates last year have already received their new plate.

Shapiro partnered with Pennsylvania pro sports teams to help announce that the new plate is now available, with mascots from across the Commonwealth proudly showing off the new design.

Vehicle owners can now request a license plate from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. Fees and instructions vary depending on plate type and personalization.

The new design complements the Pennsylvania: The Great American Getaway campaign, underscoring the Shapiro Administration’s focus on tourism as a key aspect of the Commonwealth’s Economic Development Strategy.
