Carbon County Prothonotary REPORT

The Carbon County Prothonotary’s Office recently released monthly reports for March, April and May.

March

In March, a total of 309 cases were started in the Prothonotary’s Office. They included: 143 judgments; 13 custody cases; three district judge appeals; 16 divorces; four Stip/Waiv Liens; 12 Mental Health; four miscellaneous; 31 protection from abuse; two replevin; 60 civil actions; two license appeals; 10 mortgage foreclosures; and one each Name Change, Tax Sale, Paternity, Quiet Title, Parition, Zoning Appeal, appeal, landlord/tenant appeal, Confession of Judgment and Court Appointments.

In addition, this generated a total of $39,546.98. Broken down it is:

Prothonotary Fees: $28,512.70

Custody/Divorce Fees $6,456.55

Data Processing Fees: $ 4,536.57

PFA Surcharge Sheriff: $20.58

PFA Surcharge Courts: $20.58

In addition to the above fees, the county received $1,450 for the Remote Access Fund and remitted $5,255.45 to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Revenue.

It also collected $1,247.20 for the Automation Fund, which will be used for future automation and improvements to the office.

A total of $40.80 was turned over to the state for sales tax on passport photos.

April

In April, a total of 362 cases were started in the Prothonotary’s Office. They included: 192 judgments; 22 custody cases; five district judge appeals; 17 divorces; four Stip/Waiv Liens; seven Mental Health; seven Miscellaneous; 26 protection from abuse; two replevin; 55 civil actions; two license appeals; two Name Change; 13 mortgage foreclosures; five Quiet Title; and one each auditor financial report and ejectment.

In addition, this generated a total of $41,356.63. Broken down it is:

Prothonotary Fees: $32,757.76

Custody/Divorce Fees: $3,996.25

Data Processing Fees: $4,482.02

PFA Surcharge Sheriff: $60.30

PFA Surcharge Courts: $60.30

In addition to the above fees, the county received $900 for the Remote Access Fund and remitted $6,222.48 to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Revenue.

It also collected $1,250.81 for the Automation Fund, which will be used for future automation and improvements to the office.

A total of $63.75 was turned over to the state for sales tax on passport photos.

May

In April, a total of 401 cases were started in the Prothonotary’s Office. They included: 232 judgments; 83 civil actions; seven custody cases; four district judge appeals; 18 divorces; two Stip/Waiv Liens; five Mental Health; two Miscellaneous; one name change; 29 protection from abuse; two ejectments; two license appeals; eight mortgage foreclosures; and one Quiet Title.

In addition, this generated a total of $42,213.12. Broken down it is:

Prothonotary Fees: $33,993.56

Custody/Divorce Fees: $1,756.25

Data Processing Fees: $5,686.87

PFA Surcharge Sheriff: $50

PFA Surcharge Courts: $50

Stenographer fees: $303

In addition to the above fees, the county received $1,100 for the Remote Access Fund and remitted $6,241.83 to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Revenue.

It also collected $1,615.72 for the Automation Fund, which will be used for future automation and improvements to the office.

A total of $68.85 was turned over to the state for sales tax on passport photos.
