Franklin Township supervisors presented their annual donation to the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department.
Supervisors Fred Kemmerer Jr. and Jason Frey presented a check for $50,000 to Fire Chief Lynn Diehl on Tuesday night at the monthly supervisors meeting.
“As you know, we donate $40,000 each year to the fire department,” Kemmerer said. “We also wanted to put $10,000 towards retention and recruitment. So, instead of the normal $40,000 that we give you, now it’s $50,000.”
“We appreciate it,” Chief Diehl responded. “$40,000 goes right into the truck fund, and the $10,000, that we distribute (to members that meet the criteria).”
Last year, 24 people met the criteria to qualify for the bonus, and each received $400. This year, according to Diehl, there are 35 people who qualify; each will be receiving $290.
“We’re just happy that we can keep the firemen happy, as well as the fire police,” Kemmerer added.
