State police at Frackville

State police at the Frackville barracks reported the following incidents:

• Police are investigating the theft of a PennDOT road work sign from 40 Catawissa St. in Schuylkill Township.

The sign is orange with the phrase “Road Work Ahead.” Police said it was taken between 9 and 11 a.m. on June 9. The sign is valued at $250. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 570-874-5300.

• Police are seeking the person who sped away from them around 7:32 p.m. on May 25 in Middleport.

Police attempted to stop the driver of a blue Jeep Grand Cherokee for traveling along the shoulder of Winfield Drive at a high rate of speed. A brief pursuit ensued but was terminated when the vehicle went off-road.

• Andrew Zakashefski, 63, was charged after being found driving with a suspended license and no ignition interlock installed, police said. He was stopped on the 900 block of Barnesville Drive in Ryan Township at 9:23 p.m. on June 8.

• Police responded to a report of an assault outside of Who’s Place Bar & Grill on East Centre Street in Shenandoah at 2:56 a.m. on April 13. The investigation is ongoing, police said.

• Charges are pending against the person who stole a metal shovel, lumber and a hose from JID LLC on Hazel Street in Delano Township, police said. The person was caught on camera and identified. The theft was reported at 7:07 a.m. on April 8.

• A 52-year-old New Ringgold man was targeted in a theft by deception incident in which someone changed his direct deposit information so his paycheck was deposited in a different bank account, police said.

The investigation into the May 12 incident is ongoing.

• A large amount of copper wire was removed from coal mining equipment owned by Blaschak Coal Company in Mahanoy Township, police said. The theft occurred between April 9 and June 9. Anyone with information is asked to call Trooper Ryan Sverchek at 570-874-5300.
