June 16, 1987 — Joe Gillespie pitches a two-hitter and the Summit Hill offense collects 10 hits to provide plenty of support in an 8-2 Carbon-Schuylkill Youth League victory over Nesquehoning. Gillespie strikes out 11 and has a four-run lead before he even takes the mound. Mark Kokinda and Gillespie open the game with back-to-back doubles for the game’s first run, and Mike Pascoe’s single plates Gillespie to make it 2-0. Two bases-loaded walks extend the margin. The winners tack on three more runs in the fourth thanks to an RBI double by Joe Perilli and Tom Miller’s two-run homer.
