Lehighton Borough Council

Lehighton Borough Council took the following action on Monday:

• On a 4-1 vote, denied a request from Union Center LLC for conditional approval to have seven units with six parking spaces and no additional Equivalent Dwelling Units at 381-383 S. Third St. Councilwoman Autumn Abelovsky was in favor.

• Agreed to increase the senior center rental rates to $1,500 a month as of July 1, 2025, $1,500 a month as of July 1, 2026, and $1,750 a month as of July 1, 2027.

• Accepted Diversified Technologies billing software proposal for $12,870, and a recurring annual cost of $5,480.

• Approved amendments to the borough zoning ordinance following a public hearing on the topic.

• Approved a lease agreement for one year with the stipulation they take care of maintenance concerning 121 S. First St. parking.

• Discussed, but didn’t vote on demolished properties on First Street.

• Discussed, but didn’t vote on the adoption of a resolution setting hotel and food stipend rates.

• Adopted a resolution designating the Sixth and Coal street ball fields.

• Agreed to have borough properties at First and Carbon streets and Fourth and Bridge streets appraised at no cost to the borough.

• Approved an extension letter for Armin Feldman’s lot line adjustment at 431 S. Seventh St.

• Agreed to provide heart and lung benefits to employee #299.

• Approved a request from Blocker’s Collision to hold a car show (with road closure on Eighth Street) at The Grove on Aug. 9, with a rain date of Aug. 10.

• Agreed to close the borough’s administration office on Dec. 24, Dec. 26, and Dec. 31.
