Police: Man bit another in bar fight, hit him with pool stick

A Tamaqua man is free on bail after police said he bit a man and struck him in the head with a pool stick.

Tamaqua Police charged Timothy Morales Sr., 53, of Tamaqua, with aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment and public drunkenness following the 2 a.m. May 25 incident at a bar on the 200 block of Cedar Street.

According to police, officers were called to the bar for a fight and found an extremely intoxicated Morales standing outside. Morales told police that he was struck with a pool stick, but police saw no bruises.

Police spoke with an employee, who said Morales was asked to leave after he came to the bar drunk and argued with another patron. She said he returned a short time later, retrieved a pool stick and hit the man in the head. He also bit the man’s head.

Police said the man had a large lump on his head and was bleeding. He was taken by Tamaqua Ambulance to St. Luke’s-Miners in Coaldale.

Morales was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge James Riley, who set percentage bail at $15,000.
