Carbon drug court chooses CCTI student’s logo

A logo design created by CCTI Graphic Design student Ava DeMelfi has been chosen for the Carbon County Drug Treatment Court.

DeMelfi presented her winning design at the court’s graduation program on May 28.

DeMelfi’s logo for the court in that of a Phoenix rising from the ashes.

“It is an honor to be here,” DeMelfi said to the graduates.

“I am happy that my logo was picked for this important program. I chose to make a Phoenix as my logo because just as it rises from the ashes, you must want a new start in rehabilitation. I would like to not only thank the board for choosing my logo but I want to congratulate those who are graduating tonight.”

Judge Joseph J. Matika, working with Carbon County courts, started the drug treatment court in 2019 to help those stuck in a cycle of addiction and incarceration.

The purpose of the court is to give people a chance to replace jail time with the opportunity to get help for their addition and to improve their lives.
