TASD sets drug testing

The Tamaqua Area School District will have registration for drug testing as per school district policy from 8-10 a.m. June 17 and July 15 in the Athletic Center.

Any student in grades 7-12 who intends to participate in any athletic activity, nonathletic club or organization and any student who applies to park on school property will be subject to an initial random drug test. Additionally, any nonparticipant, whose parent requests voluntary testing, will be eligible to participate in the random testing program.

Testing will occur randomly on the testing dates. Students need to provide a signed parent consent form before participating on one of those dates.

Any student who cannot attend either of the dates provided should contact Mike Hromyak, athletic director, at mhromyak@tamaquasd.org, or high school Principal Tom McCabe at tmccabe@tamaquasd.org for other arrangements. Becoming part of the random selection process is necessary before participating in any activities.
