Senior Center

The Panther Valley Senior Center announced the menu for June 9-13.

Monday: Meatloaf, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans, Blueberry Bread or Turkey and Cheese Sandwich.

Tuesday: Chicken Alfredo, Pasta, Broccoli, Clementine, Cookie or Chicken Caesar Salad.

Wednesday: Beef Sloppy Joe, Potato Wedges, Carrots, Applesauce or BBQ Chicken Sandwich.

Thursday: Pork and Sauerkraut, Mashed Potatoes, Pudding or Beef and Cheese Sandwich

Friday: BBQ Pulled Pork, Chuckwagon Corn, Coleslaw, Crumb Cake or Chicken Ranch Salad.

The center has also announced the following upcoming events:

Balloon Tennis on June 6 at 11 a.m.

Drumming Exercise on June 9 at 11 a.m.; Bingo on June 10 at 10:45 a.m.; Cornhole on June 11 at 11 a.m.; Po-Keeno on June 12 at 11 a.m.; Pancake Breakfast on June 13 at 9:30 a.m.

Bingo on June 16 at 10:45 a.m.; Center Closed on June 17; Game Day on June 18 at 10:30 a.m.; Po-Keeno on June 19 at 11 a.m.; Skeeball on June 20 at 11 a.m.

Cards, pool, games available daily from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. New members are welcome.

Nesquehoning

Historical Society

The Nesquehoning Historical Society is hosting a full-day railroad excursion to Pottsville at 9 a.m. June 26.

The Reading and Northern train leaves the Nesquehoning station and travels to Pottsville. where passengers can then enjoy a variety of activities, including a tour the Yuengling Brewery, the Yuengling Mansion, Jerry’s Car Museum and more.

Panther Valley library

The Panther Valley Public Library will hold its summer reading program for children ages 3-5 and 6-9 beginning June 11.

This year’s program theme is “Color Our World.” It includes crafts, snacks and reading.

The program for children ages 3-5 is held from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 18, 25 and July 9.

The program for children ages 6-9 is held from 10-11 a.m. Fridays, June 13, 20, 27 and July 11.

Registration is required for this free event. To register a child, call the library at 570-645-3780 with your child’s name and age or email pvplib@ptd.net.

The library is located at 117 E. Bertsch St., Lansford, and is open Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m.-noon; Thursdays from 5-7 p.m.; and Fridays from 9 a.m.-noon.
