Jim Thorpe Sports HOF names 2025 class

The Jim Thorpe Area Sports Hall of Fame recently announced its Class of 2025. The 33rd class of inductees includes Samuel Hydro, Ethan Mordaunt, Jarrin Geisinger, Dylan Dailey, Jonathan Lilly, and the 1983 Jim Thorpe Area High School Tri-Championship Schuylkill League baseball team.

Hydro, a 2019 graduate, is the only silver medalist at the PIAA Championships in school history. He finished second in the state in the 800 meters and was both a Schuylkill League and District 11 champion. Hydro holds multiple Jim Thorpe school records and three records at Missouri Western State University.

Mordaunt, a 2019 graduate, was an accomplished wrestler and football player for the Olympians. He won a District 11 Class 2A championship and a PIAA Southeast Regional title in wrestling in 2019, finishing his career with 103 victories. In football, Mordaunt was a two-way lineman who earned several postseason honors. During his senior season, he totaled 67 tackles, including 22 for loss, and had seven sacks from his defensive tackle position.

Geisinger, a 2019 graduate, excelled in track and field and football. He won two District 11 Class 2A titles in the 100 meters and three Schuylkill League 100-meter crowns. On the football field, he compiled 718 all-purpose yards and scored 10 touchdowns during his senior season.

Dailey, a 2019 graduate, was one of the top defensive linemen in school history. A two-time all-state selection at defensive end, he recorded 56 tackles, 22 for loss, and 13 sacks as a junior. As a senior, he notched 63 tackles, 25 for loss, and 14 sacks.

Lilly, a 1997 graduate, was a standout baseball player for the Olympians. A three-year starting pitcher, he once held the program’s all-time strikeout record and had multiple games with 12 or more strikeouts. During his junior year, he went 6-1 in Schuylkill League play with an ERA below 3.00.

The 1983 Jim Thorpe baseball team became the first in school history to win a Schuylkill League championship. The squad also captured the league’s North Division title with a win over Bishop Hafey. Coached by David Malkin and assisted by Sid Llera, the team included Tony Pompa, Bill Keegan, Leo Bott, Dave Zurn, Dave Steidle, Frank Dennis, Brian Snyder, Gary Heydt, Ted LaRizzio, Jim Miller, Scott Kmetz, Paul Toro, Rich Mika, Tony Roos, Bruce Howard, Scott Miller, Eric Everett, and Joe Steber. Managers were Alexa (Bach) Cataldo and Tanya (May) Lynn.
