State police at Lehighton
State police at the Lehighton barracks reported the following incidents:
• Police were summoned to an address on South Ninth Street in Lehighton to investigate a report of failure to comply with Megan’s Law requirements.
The failure of the sexual offender to comply with the law was reported to have been between Nov. 1, 2024, and 3 p.m. May 14.
Police said their investigation determined the offender had recently passed away.
• A 17-year-old juvenile is facing retail theft (shoplifting) charges at the Country Junction store in rural Lehighton.
Police said a store manager arrived at their barracks to report the incident occurred between 6:17-6:54 p.m. May 20 when a candle worth $9.99 and a 10-foot cellphone charging cable valued at $14.99 were stolen.
Police said the girl was identified through video surveillance footage and admitted to the shoplifting.
• A 19-year-old man from Easton is facing drug possession and driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance charges after police made a traffic stop at 7:57 p.m. May 23.
He was stopped in a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze for Title 75 violations on Lehigh Drive in East Penn Township, after which he was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.
• A 44-year-old Palmerton man is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance after police made a traffic stop at 11:51 p.m. May 23.
He was stopped in a 2021 Hyundai for multiple Title 75 violations on Franklin Avenue in Palmerton.
• Two people were cited for disorderly conduct after police were called to an incident on Forest Inn Road, Lower Towamensing Township, at 3:14 a.m. May 24.
Cited were a man from Aquashicola and a woman from Palmerton.
• A 27-year-old Nesquehoning man is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance after police made a traffic stop at 1:12 a.m. May 25.
Police said he was stopped in a 2009 vehicle for a Motor Vehicle Code violation on Packerton Hollow Road, Mahoning Township.
• A 25-year-old Effort woman is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after police made a traffic stop at 9:40 p.m. May 25.
She was stopped in a 2023 Subaru Impreza for a Motor Vehicle Code violation on Interchange Road in Franklin Township.
• A 27-year-old Parryville man is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after police made a traffic stop at 2:21 a.m. May 26.
He was stopped in a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta for a Motor Vehicle Code violation on Centre Street in Parryville.
