State police at Fern Ridge - crashes
State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following crashes:
• Blake Young, 43, of Chicago, Illinois, had minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash at 4:21 p.m. May 24 on Weir Lake Road, Chestnuthill Township.
Police said he did not require a medical transport from the scene.
They said the incident occurred as John Defeo Jr., 88, of Kunkletown, was driving a 2019 Toyota Prius when he failed to yield to oncoming traffic while making a left turn into a driveway and entered the path of a 2024 Honda driven by Young.
Police said the Honda had disabling damage but the Prius was able to be driven from the scene.
Defeo was cited after the crash, according to police.
• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 12:03 p.m. May 24 at the intersection of Route 115 and Weis Lake Road in Chestnuthill Township.
Police did not identify the drivers, or their addresses, but said a 2012 GMC Terrain turned onto Route 115, striking a 2005 GMC Envoy.
• Katherine E. Maher, 30, of Saylorsburg, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 6:39 a.m. May 20 on Sugar Hollow Road, Chestnuthill Township.
Police said she was driving a 2014 Ford Explorer southbound when it left its lane of travel and hit a guide rail on the shoulder of the road before spinning clockwise 90 degrees and coming to rest facing northwest. The Explorer was towed from the scene.
• Joan Mattson, 50, of Saylorsburg, was cited for leaving the scene of an accident after a hit-and-run incident at 8:32 p.m. Feb. 14 at the intersection of Route 115 and Weir Lake Road, Chestnuthill Township.
Police reported this week that she was identified as having been driving a vehicle that struck a vehicle driven by a 38-year-old woman from Blakeslee.
Involved in the incident were a 2022 Chevrolet Trail Blazer and a 2023 Kia Sportage.
