PAID CONTENT | sponsored by St. Luke's University Health Network

St. Luke’s Pediatrics, which delivers world-class health care to children of all ages right in your community, is pleased to introduce our newest pediatrician, Amy L. Houm, MD.

Dr. Houm joins nurse practitioner Emily R. Otto, CRNP, at St. Luke’s Palmerton Pediatrics in the St. Luke’s Women’s & Children’s Center.

St. Luke’s Palmerton Pediatrics is a small practice with longstanding roots in our small-town community.

Like all our board-certified pediatricians and specialists, they follow the American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines and offer personalized treatment that fits the whole family.

This includes creating dedicated spaces designed for comforting children and adults. We understand every child is unique.

When you choose a St. Luke’s Pediatrician, you’ll get access to more than 40 pediatric specialists, the St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital and The Isaacman Family St. Luke’s Children’s ER in Bethlehem. We’re dedicated to caring for your child and family every step of the way.

Establishing a relationship with a trusted pediatrician and maintaining regular appointments is the best way to ensure the health of your child.

At St. Luke’s, we are committed to providing access to high-quality pediatric care. We aim to keep your care as close to home as possible. As needed, we work with our pediatric specialists and St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital to manage chronic health conditions and acute needs.

St. Luke’s board-certified pediatricians treat young patients in a manner that is comfortable for children and comforting for parents.

From state-of-the-art NICUs to skilled pediatricians to pediatric specialty care, we’re here to care for your child’s health care needs.

Dr. Houm and Emily Otto strive to know each of their patients personally. So, you enjoy a warm and welcoming experience where patients are treated as family.

MEET OUR PROVIDERS

Amy L. Houm, MD

I am a compassionate and dedicated board-certified pediatrician with more than 25 years of experience providing comprehensive health care services to children from infancy through adolescence.

I am skilled in diagnosing and treating a wide range of pediatric conditions, promoting wellness and preventive care and building strong relationships with patients and their families.

I was born and raised in Northeastern Pennsylvania, where I have practiced medicine for my entire career. I have two adult daughters and enjoy painting, cross-stitching, reading and spending time with family and friends.

Emily R. Otto, CRNP

I am a nurse practitioner who has been in the medical profession my entire adult life. I have been a nurse for more than 20 years and have worked in several different inpatient and outpatient settings at St. Luke’s University Health Network and elsewhere.

I love the connection I make with people, especially children.

As a nurse practitioner, I feel so fortunate to be part of the pediatric care team that helps my patient’s families make healthy decisions and establish routines.

I have raised my three sons in Palmerton and understand the delicate struggles of balancing family and individual needs. I am particularly passionate about mental health and am dedicated to understanding the underlying causes of mental health struggles.

I work collaboratively with my patients and their families to develop the safest, most effective long-term care plans to build a positive future.

Outside my professional life, I am a lover of animals, especially my four dogs. In my free time, I love to hike, kayak and travel to see as much of the world as possible. I value spending time with my family, as we quickly forget how precious those memories are when we become distracted by day-to-day life.
