Penn Kidder PTA hosts community fun day

The Penn Kidder Parent Teacher Association held its Community Fun Day on Sunday, after it had been postponed twice due to rain. It was held on the grounds of the Penn Kidder Campus on Route 903 in Albrightsville.

“Part of the PTA’s mission is not only to support the teachers of our school, but also our parents,” Meredith Rea, vice president, explained. “Our parents do a lot for us throughout the year with volunteering, donations and fundraising. This is our way of saying thank you to them for everything they do for us not only this year, but every year.”

Most everything at the fun day was free. The money they used to pay for the event was normally used to purchase field day T-shirts. The PTA decided to reallocate the funds this year to host this event to offer their thanks.

Many local businesses and groups donated items for the basket raffle, including bicycles, TV sets, gift cards, and many other gift baskets. DJ Cosmic Kevin was on hand with music.

The fun day also included two bounce houses and three inflatable slides for the kids, face painting, local craft vendors, and the PTA was selling delicious homemade foods, such as hot dogs, hamburgers, Ukrainian foods, coffee and drinks, and so much more.

Children were enjoying the slides and bounce houses. Brittany Cosgrove from Albrightsville had her two children, Addison and Ben, there to enjoy the day. Judging from the smiles on their faces, it worked.

“We are doing this day to show our community how much we appreciate their help all year,” Rea added.
