Polk Township supervisors

A 2010 tanker will be purchased by the Polk Township Fire Company under an agreement with Command Fire Apparatus, an acquisition that is in line with the apparatus replacement plan.

The tanker is expected in 90 days.

It will cost approximately $389,000, plus painting. The truck is being paid for with funded raised and tax dollars.

Details of the acquisition were included in the fire company’s report to the Polk Township supervisors at their meeting Monday.

For April, the fire company reported 21 emergencies, 189 hours of training and 116 hours of fundraising.

The supervisors held an executive session before the meeting to discuss a kennel on 710 Interchange Road.

The ordinance requires certain conditions be met. The conditions include having an 8-foot solid vinyl fence; allowing no animals outside from dusk to 8 a.m.; limiting the number of dogs to 21; and having plans for disposal of animal waste.
