Three young men of Bowmanstown were presented the Pro Deo et Patria awards for scouting accomplishments during a ceremony in Trinity Lutheran Church.

Recipients of the God and Country honors were Norman Engle Jr., 17, and Ronald Engle, 19, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Engle of 150 Forge St., and Dennis Rehrig, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Rehrig, 510 Hamilton St.

Presenting the awards was the Rev. Carl Alexy, pastor of the church, who was assisted by Nelson Engle, adviser of Bowmanstown Explorer Post 45, and Luke Miller of Allentown.

The Engle brothers join their older brothers, Larry, Wayne and Nelson, as Pro Deo et Patris award winners. All previously received the Eagle Scout rank and the family is considered as holding a national record in this respect, according to the Lehigh Council.
