Beltzville boat launch to be fixed

Work to replace two deteriorating retaining walls at a boat launch at Beltzville State Park will take place this fall, officials say.

During the Carbon County commissioners’ meeting earlier this month, the board received correspondence from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources outlining its plan for replacing the two concrete retaining walls adjacent to the Pine Run Boat Launch at Beltzville State Park in Towamensing Township.

“The project is needed due to the severe deterioration of the existing retaining walls,” Mark Spadea, senior engineer for the project, wrote to the county.

Work is expected to begin after the end of the summer season concludes on Labor Day and reach completion by February 2026.

Pine Run Boat Launch is one of two launching points on the 949-acre lake, located on the lake’s northern shores.

The other one is Preachers Camp, which is located on the southern shore.
