The main road that travels through Nesquehoning is getting an update by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, officials say.
On Wednesday, borough councilwoman Suzanne Smith announced that the borough has received word from PennDOT that the road project along Route 209 (Catawissa Street), is slated to begin June 9.
“They will be coordinating with the borough as to no parking on the sides of the streets and what they would like moved,” Smith said.
Sean Brown, safety press officer for PennDOT, said Wednesday afternoon that the maintenance work will include milling and paving along 209 between Route 93 on the east end of town and Route 54 on the west end of town.
Brown said it is anticipated that it will take approximately two weeks to complete, however that may changed based on he weather.
PennDOT crews will be working on the project from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“We just remind residents to please abide any signs that go up and move your vehicles when requested to avoid ticketing or any delays in the project,” Smith said.
