Sunday worship at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. 3rd St., Lehighton with Holy Communion and an infant baptism begins at 9:30 a.m. Recognition of graduates with gift presentation, and dedication of quilts designated to be sent to Lutheran World Relief occurs during this time. Kathy Long, Licensed Lay Minister, presides.

Fellowship picnic and cakewalk hosted by the Youth Group begins in Luther Hall after worship concludes.

First Saturday worship with Holy Communion is at 4 p.m. on June 7.

Bike team: The 2025 Illini 4000 Bike Team (Champaign campus) visits Trinity for rest, refreshment and overnight stay on June 3. The team of 17 are on a NYC to San Francisco tour raising funds and awareness of cancer and support services for their charities. All are welcome to greet them at Luther Hall during the afternoon.

Church initiatives:

The Food Pantry is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays (and third Tuesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting. Residents who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive supplemental food. Participants must remain in their vehicle at time of pick up. Pantry volunteers will assist pedestrians/those not in vehicles.

The Trinity Thrift Store hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays; and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays and Saturdays. Household goods and clothing donations will be accepted during store hours. There is a five bag limit. Use door 2 to bring clothing inside.

VBS: Vacation Bible School will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Aug. 11 to 13,

BECC

Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, 222 North St., Lehighton, will host Sunday Morning Worship at 10:45 a.m.

• Sunday: 9:30 a.m. Sunday school;

• Tuesday: 6:30 p.m. church council;

• Thursday: 5 a.m. Men’s Bible Study, 6 to 7:30 p.m. Second Blessing Free Clothing Ministry.

St. John’s

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mahoning, 826 Mahoning Dr. W., Lehighton will hold worship service at 10:45 a.m. Sunday.

Meeting: 6:30 p.m. June 5 at the church. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss St. John’s 175th anniversary celebration.

Community Cupboard: Dinkey Memorial Church in Ashfield has a food cupboard available to those in need who are members of Dinkey Memorial and St. John’s or residents of East Penn Township. The distribution is the third Thursday of every month from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in Dinkey’s Social Room. For more information, speak with Pastor Tony.

Ben Salem UCC

Ben Salem UCC, 1965 Church Hill Road, Lehighton, Summer Worship schedule has started. It includes a 9 a.m. worship service. This will continue until Sept. 7.

• Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., Senior Choir Practice.

• Thursday at 6:45 p.m., Handbell Choir Practice; 6 to 9 p.m. Men’s Bible study, open to men age 18 and up.

Upcoming: Vacation Bible School will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on June 16-20.

Fundraiser events:

• Strawberry Social: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 15. Event includes a bake sale, quilt and basket raffles and music by Daybreak and Lost & Found.

Christ Evangelical

Christ Evangelical Free Church, 2420 Blakeslee Blvd. Dr. West in Lehighton holds worship service beginning at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Ministries during the week:

Sister Chix, a support group for widows and divorced women, is held the last Sunday of each month at noon. Bring a lunch. Dessert will be provided. To attend, call 570-386-4547. Enter through the lower parking lot entrance.

ESL classes are held at 6:30 p.m. every Monday. To register, call the church office. Enter through the upper parking lot.

Men’s Bible workshop is the first and third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. Lower parking lot entrance.

AWANA — Kids Bible Club is held every Wednesday at 6 p.m. Upper parking lot entrance.

Prayer Shawl Ministry is held the second Saturday of the month from 9 to 11 a.m.

A Food Pantry takes place the third Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to noon. Lower parking lot entrance.
