State police at Lehighton

State police at the Lehighton barracks reported the following incidents:

• A 41-year-old Walnutport man is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance after police made a traffic stop at 10:38 p.m. May 23.

He was stopped in a 2005 Acura for a Motor Vehicle Code violation on Centre Street in Parryville.

• A 66-year-old Lehighton woman reported a theft incident to police at 4 p.m. May 20.

The resident of Sam Brooke Circle, East Penn Township, told police she brought home her medications from a pharmacy and put them on the kitchen counter. She said someone entered the residence and stole them.

The medications included eye drops, an anti-inflammatory and a blood-pressure medication.

• Randy Smith, 32, of Lehighton, was committed to the Carbon County Correctional Facility, Nesquehoning, after he was found in the basement of the home of a person who has a Protection From Abuse court order against him, police said.

They were called to Bridge Street in Weissport at 5:51 p.m. May 21 when a 27-year-old Lehighton woman reported Smith, her ex-boyfriend, attempted to retrieve his Wi-Fi router from her and was hiding in the basement.

• A 64-year-old Albrightsville man was charged with terroristic threats after police were called to a property on East Point Road, Polk Township, at 12:50 p.m. May 22. Police did not name the man in the press release.

Police said a 19-year-old woman from Albrightsville told police she and the man were involved in an argument that escalated when the man told her “the only way you are leaving this house is in a body bag.”

She told police the man left the room and returned with a shotgun, racking the weapon.

• Police were called to Ben Salem United Church of Christ, Church Hill Road, East Penn Township at 7:20 p.m. May 17 for a reported theft and scattering rubbish incident.

They said a U.S. flag valued at $100 was reported stolen from the church.

• A 59-year-old Palmerton man is the victim of a theft by deception incident reported May 22 on Green Valley Drive, Towamensing Township.

He told police someone coerced him into sending $2,078.10 via three separate Zelle transactions on May 6 due to his Verizon account allegedly being flagged with fraudulent activity.

• Police were called to a theft report at 10:27 a.m. May 18 on White Street in Weissport.

The victim was listed as a 31-year-old woman from Slatington.

• A man from Bath is facing drug possession charges after police made a traffic stop at 12:13 p.m. May 24.

He was stopped in a 2010 Pontiac on Route 248 in Parryville and found to be in possession of illegal contraband, according to police.

• A 49-year-old man from Mount Upton, New York, is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after police made a traffic stop at 1:08 a.m. May 22.

He was stopped in a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado for a Motor Vehicle Code violation on Canal Street in Franklin Township.

• A Saylorsburg couple is out $20,049 as a result of a theft by deception incident that is being investigated by police.

The 62-year-old man and 59-year-old woman, from Pheasant Road, Ross Township, told police they paid a company that amount to cancel their timeshare and have not had any contact with the company, which has not performed the service for which it was paid.
