The Jim Thorpe Area School District Board of Directors approved numerous personnel actions during their recent regular meeting, including new hires, transfers and resignations.

New teacher hires

The board approved the hiring of several new teachers for the 2025-26 school year, all starting at Bachelor’s Step 1 with a salary of $53,020 unless otherwise noted:

Elementary Teachers: Abby Haberle, fourth grade teacher at Penn Kidder Campus; Jenna Reis, first grade teacher at L.B. Morris Elementary; Jessica Evans, first grade teacher at L.B. Morris Elementary; Lauren Marks, kindergarten teacher at L.B. Morris Elementary (Bachelor’s Step 2, $54,020); and Erin McArdle, fifth grade ELA teacher at L.B. Morris Elementary.

Special education: Alora Serfass, special education teacher at PK Campus, and Tara Eisley, special education teacher

Specialized position

Alix Olesak, speech and language pathologist at Bachelor’s Step 6 with a salary of $60,520, starting July 1.

Teacher transfers and resignations

The board approved an internal transfer involving two teachers:

Susan Ruotolo will transfer from computer science at PK Campus to sixth grade English language arts at PK Campus.

Ralph Clay will transfer from fourth grade at PK Campus to the computer science position at PK Campus.

William Cameron resigned from his high school math position, effective at the end of the 2024-25 school year.

Support staff

Custodial: Michael J. Skrimovsk, part-time custodian at Penn Kidder Campus at $14/hour, starting June 9; Carl Mann, substitute custodian contracted through Express Employment.
