Sky-View Memorial Park site of solemn observance

The Quakake American Legion Isganitis, Heckman, Messerschmidt Post 973 conducted a Memorial Day service at the Sky-View Memorial Park Cemetery in Hometown on Sunday.

It marked the 78th anniversary of the post saluting veterans at the cemetery in Rush Township.

The main address was delivered by retired U.S. Army Capt. Joseph Shamonsky, who served during Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Other participants included Dale D. Kline, master of ceremonies and post member, and the Rev. Bob Adams of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Barnesville.

There was an honor guard and playing of taps.

There are 3,780 veterans buried at Sky-View.
