Damien Council No. 598, Knights of Columbus, Jim Thorpe, announced plans to honor the Rev. John Engler in honor of his 50th anniversary of ordination to the Holy Priesthood.

The esteemed priest, a native of East Mauch Chunk, has been a member of Damien Council for the past 51 years.

Joseph L. Boyle, semi-retired journalist and executive director of the Lehighton Area Chamber of Commerce, will be the guest speaker at a celebration to be held at Smith’s Stoney Creek Hotel, Penn Forest Township.

Thomas J. Martino, a past grand knight of the host council, will be the toastmaster.
